Progress Makes Perfect!
Hi there! We’ve been busy bees over here getting a few projects done (or almost done) around the house! There’s nothing like company coming to get your butt in gear! We’ve been working on the bathrooms slowly and had our friends coming last weekend, so it was time to finish painting and installing the bead board! I was still painting the day they were coming and we only had them help a little bit on Saturday to hang the hooks 🙂 What are friends for?? So, the boys’ (and guest) bathroom needed some serious love. It had a little bit of split personality going on with it’s baseball wallpaper border and…

The Secret to Getting Your Life Back – Sleep Training
I’ve had a few questions about how I get my kids to sleep at 7:00 (give or take) every night, so I’ll try my best to explain! This has really been a game-changer for us! For reference if you don’t know my kids, Alex is almost 3 (April 4) and Christian is almost 1 (March 13). I feel pretty hilarious as I write this because Christian is currently sleeping on my chest and has already been up twice since I put him to bed at 6:30 (it’s 11:00). He’s sick. What’s a mom to do? Cuddle. A mom is to cuddle her sick baby. And also, a mom is to get covered…

Frugal Friday: Ugly Frame with DIY Watercolor Arrows
Happy Monday friends! Hold on to your hats because I know it’s not really Friday for Frugal Friday. But don’t we all need a little Friday in our Monday?? I’ve been cranking out a few projects around here, finally! You know what that means??? Christian is finally sleeping through the night! Y’all! Sleeping. Through the night. It took about a week of sleep training, but he caught on pretty quickly that I was no longer going to be feeding him 3 times in the middle of the night. He pretty much sleeps 7-6, has a bottle, then 6-8 or 8:30. It’s pretty great. We are all happier people for it.…

Whole Wheat Cinnamon Applesauce Muffins
What do you do when your Weather Channel app says it feels like -22 outside? You bake, of course! Having an almost 3 year old and an almost 1 year old cooped up in a house for too long is just a recipe for disaster. And my house is a disaster. We are juggling laundry, dishes, keeping the boys entertained, and sprucing up the boys’ bathroom. And typing really hurts my fingers because I have split fingers from the air being so dry! Real life, y’all. When is spring?? So, today, to keep from going stir crazy, we baked muffins! These muffins sure are tasty; with just the right amount…

Ironman in Training: Motivation, Family, The Plan
Alright, it’s time for another post from a guest writer….John! When I wrote my first post about 2 years ago, I thought it would be fun to guest write once a week or at least every couple weeks, but, here I am two years later with my second post! I know, you’re pumped. I felt like today would be a great time to update everyone on my latest training endeavor, since today marks exactly 3 months until I take on Ironman Texas, an Ironman distance triathlon. An ironman distance race consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run; I will have 17 hours to complete it. I…

Switcharoo
Hiiii! I missed you all last week! Life was totally happening over here. And by life, I’m telling you that my kids weren’t sleeping and I was a walking zombie. But, luckily, they are super cute. I did manage to pull myself out of the stupor long enough to get a few things done these past few days, though. 🙂 Remember my super cool jute mirror that I made from a tray and some twine? It was at the bottom of my stairs, and I had also added some things around it to liven up the wall a bit. I wasn’t 100% sold on the arrangement. Are we really arrow…

Tackle it Tuesday: A Meaningful Frame Update
If you are anything like me, you have a list a mile long of projects that you need to get done, but for whatever reason, you’ve been putting them off. I have so many little projects that, when I pass by them, I think “I really need to get that done”, but I never actually do. So, I am happy to announce the start of “Tackle it Tuesday”! It will give me the much needed motivation to finish up the nagging projects so I can do more big, fun projects and I hope it motivates you to get your stuff done, too! I think it will diminish some of the…

2015 Goals
Do you set resolutions or goals each year? How do you make sure you stick to them? I find that every time I make resolutions for the new year, they tend to fizzle out shortly there after. I really need to have concrete ideas laid out, or I won’t get anything accomplished! I like to think of my New Year “resolutions” as more of a to-do list 🙂 It helps my mom brain stay on track. At least that’s what I’m telling myself. So, without further ado, here are some of my to-do goals for 2015 (in no particular order)! 1) Run a half marathon (maybe 2?): I have already…

Frugal Friday: Jute Mirror Knockoff Edition
Happy Friday! I’m back with another Frugal Friday for you all this week! My entryway is something that I have big dreams for. I talked a little about the plans for it here and now I am finally starting to spruce it up a bit 🙂 For the record, it’s unorganized again because I haven’t figured out a good system for our family yet. I’m getting there, promise! Anyways. I had a moment the other night, where I asked John to recycle a metal-look plastic tray that we had from a baby shower we hosted that week. I was all “I’m trying not to be a hoarder so please take…

The best of 2014!!
Oh, hey there, 2015! I am out of blog hibernation here (finally) to bring you our 2014 highlights! In case you missed it, I posted our house tour so you can all snoop around my house like I know you want to 😉 I hope you all had a magical holiday season with your families and friends! Is it okay to say I’m glad to be back to a semi-normal schedule? As much as I love Christmastime, it’s exhausting! So, 2014 was a pretty big year for the Reineke family! I’d say our biggest accomplishment was welcoming Christian into the world! Oh my gosh, was he really that little?? He…
