    DIY Hand Stamped Collar Stays

Don’t worry, we already gave John his Father’s Day present, so no spoiler alert needed 🙂 We are so thankful for everything John does for us.  He’s such a wonderful dad and husband and I’m always trying to come up with something good for the boys to get him, but he isn’t easy to surprise!  He has been subtly mentioning (for a few years) that he would like metal collar stays.  The plastic ones seem to vanish into thin air!  I finally took his hints and ordered this pack from Amazon, though, I would order a softer metal if I do this again in the future!  Stainless steal was very…

Easy & Healthy Homemade Popsicles! Plus, What We’re Up To

It’s almost officially summer!  Who’s excited??  Summer is probably my favorite time of year although, I tend to love every season the most when it is just beginning!  But I think Summer is top 4 for sure 😉 I think I love this time of year so much because we can spend so much time outside!  We’ve been busy playing baseball (with a soccer ball),   drawing with chalk, fishing,   and playing with cousins!   You wouldn’t think so, but here in Ohio it can be scorching hot come June.  We are always looking for a new way to stay cool!  One of our favorite activities is to hang out…

    “John, You Are an IRONMAN”

Hello everyone! The three months since I wrote my last post in February certainly flew by!  Here we are at the end of May and my journey to becoming an IRONMAN is complete! As many of you might have seen via Facebook, I completed Ironman Texas in 12:54:45, more than an hour below my goal time of 14 hours. I started to give a glimpse into training in my February update and will dive a little more into that here.  At the time of my last post, my long workouts consisted of 4-5 hours on Saturdays, followed by a 90 minute run, 45 minute bike and 30 minute swim on…

A Beautiful Guest Room and a Giveaway!

Hey guys! I hope you are all enjoying this new found warm weather!  I know we have been outside so much lately letting the boys burn off some much needed energy!  I can’t wait for summer to be in full swing!  We can now really kick it off because John completed his IRONMAN last weekend!  We are so proud of his major accomplishment! While John was busing becoming an Ironman, I was busy working on new orders for watercolor states and wood signs alike!  I’m having a ton of fun painting all of these pieces and wanted to give one away to a lucky This is Our Bliss reader!  I’m…

    Shared Boys Room Inspiration

So, my boys love each other.  They are total best buds.  Except for when one is sitting on the other’s head, but thats besides the point. John and I have been discussing putting them in the same room lately because they would probably have so much fun and never sleep again, but at least they’d have each other right??  Plus, it would be awesome to have our guest room back because we are frequently hosting family and friends from out of town.  Currently, we have a pull out sofa in Christian’s room acting as our guest bed and Christian sleeps in the pack n play in our room when there are people…

  • What I Wore

    {My First} What I Wore Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday!  So, I’ve been wanting to join in on What I Wore Wednesday over at The Pleated Poppy for a few months now, but, as it turns out, I’m pretty terrible at getting out of my yoga pants on a daily basis and remembering to take a picture of my outfit. Now, the weather is getting nicer and I find it easier to get myself up and dressed!  Do you feel that way too?  I look a lot nicer in the warmer months of the year! Ha!  I always feel a lot better about myself when I get myself out of my jammies for the day; and I feel like…

    Baby Velcro Shoe Hack

Hello, friends! Spring is finally on it’s way!  It’s starting to warm up a bit here in Ohio and we’ve been spending more and more time outside, which means that I actually need to put shoes on Christian.  He’s been wearing his Bison Booties all Winter which are completely adorable and comfy for inside, but outside he needs something a little bit sturdier (and something I’m not too attached to because I’m not ruining Bison Booties outside!). I found these and these soft soled shoes at Target for $5 each (of course I can’t find them anymore at Target, but Amazon to the rescue!) and figured they would work well for…

Newest Addition to Place in Progress’ Etsy Shop!

If you’ve been reading for a while, you know that I love making wooden signs.  It all started with my groceries sign that hangs in my kitchen and the signs on the playroom gallery wall.  I just love how much character they add to my home and I can personalize them to exactly what I’m looking for!  I’m so excited and super nervous to announce that I’m adding hand-painted wooden signs to my Etsy shop!  It’s been a long time coming and I can’t believe I finally hit “publish listing” this afternoon! I’ve since made a few signs for family.  My mom wanted one of a song she taught Alex to…

    IKEA Easel Hack

Who doesn’t love a good IKEA hack?  And who doesn’t love this adorable little easel that you can snatch up  for 15 bucks?  We bought it for Alex the Christmas before last and he loves it!  He draws me a lot of smiley faces that look EXACTLY like me 🙂  He’s a keeper, that one. Well, fast-forward to having two kiddos and Christian being able to pull himself up.  You can probably do that math.  I suppose when an easel is $15, it’s not going to be the sturdiest thing ever.  Whenever he pulled himself up on that little tray, it would tumble down on top of him.  And he’s…
