    It’s Officially a Studio!

Be prepared to fall in love.  Or is it just me whose heart skips a beat at the sight of organized craft supplies??  Because seriously, this space is making me so giddy!  I think I’ve stepped it up from craft room to official Place in Progress Studio.  What do you think?? If you follow me on Instagram (which you totally should!), you would have seen that I finally painted these shelves that have been in my basement for years.  No joke.  I made them forever ago.  They are Ana White’s $10 picture ledges and so simple to make!  They were my first solo build project, high five! I’ve been using…

    Boys/Guest Bathroom Update

A quick update for you guys today because I just realized the other day that I haven’t shown you our further progress in the boys’ bathroom!  What the heck have I been doing?? Since I last talked about their bathroom, we have successfully tiled our first floor!  That change made such a huge difference in here.  And it really wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be.  We chose the classic look of a white hex tile.  It was super affordable at about $2 per square foot.  It has held up really well to two wild animals little boys in the bath, who pretend they are pirates and such…

    Mis-matched Door Headboard

You’ve seen them.  Door headboards.  They are all the rage on Pinterest.  I’ve been pinning them forever, but didn’t have an old door or a car big enough to go pick one up from Habitat and bring it home.  I was stuck not able to fulfill my dreams of a rustic, chippy, old door for a headboard. Enter: my in-laws.  They replaced a few doors on their cottage to make it more energy efficient and asked if we would want the old wood doors for anything.  Um.  Yeah!  They even delivered them right to our garage.  Where they sat.  For 3 months.   Finally, this week when we were driving…

7 Ways to Update Your Half Bathroom!

Ya’ll.  I’m so glad this bathroom is done!  Truth be told it has been done for months and months, but I didn’t want to photograph it until I had pictures in the frame.  Literally, just put these nautical clip art photos (from The Graphics Fairy) in the frames last night. #procrastinatorsunite #tomorrow Also, a half bath might just be the most awkward thing to photograph.  Especially when it gets absolutely no natural light.  Hooray for yellow light and weird pictures! If you are looking to update your half bath (or any bathroom!) here are a few simple and pretty inexpensive things you can do. 1. Paint that builder-grade vanity:  The first thing…

Caring for Yourself as a Mom

I think every mom has been there.  You know, wondering when the last time you showered was.  Did you wash your hair?  Pick up a shirt and sniff.  Clean enough to get through the day.  You think, “I really should paint my nails” or “I wish I could take a bath” or “I need to start working out”.  But, by the end of the day, you are so wiped out from caring for every little need of your tiny person (or people) that all of that sounds like just another thing on your to-do list.  Especially because you  have mountains of laundry and dishes and toys strewn all over the…

    Motivation Monday

Happy Monday! Lately, I’ve been taking the time to learn the art of hand lettering and also dabbling in printables.  (If you follow me on Instagram, you already know this.  If you don’t, go follow me!)  And when you are practicing writing, that means that you look up a lot of quotes to practice with!  I have so many quotes that I absolutely adore.  Such as this one from Pride and Prejudice.  All. the. heart. eyes. for Mr. Darcy.  Anybody else?  I could seriously watch that movie every day.  And I did.  In college. It’s so fun and totally relaxing (hand lettering, that is.  Not watching Pride and Prejudice daily).  I’m…

    Fall and New Ventures!

You guys.  Alex is starting preschool THIS THURSDAY.  How can this little peanut be starting preschool??? I just don’t know.  I’m so excited for him, though!  And more importantly, he is so pumped.  Mostly that he gets to carry a “pack-pack”.  But I think he will learn a thing or two, also.   I keep seeing everybody’s “Back to School” posts on Instagram and I love it!  It means fall is just around the corner.  The mornings and evenings are starting to cool down, which is my favorite!  It means I get to whip out the sweatshirts and jeans.  Before you know it, we will be picking pumpkins and apples.…

Ombre Painted Mason Jars for Craft Room Organization

Happy Friday!  Quick shout out to my husband! Happy 5 year anniversary! Woot! Photo Cred: The AMAZING Morningwild Photography (formerly Lime Green Photography) So, since we put in the floors and took everything out of the craft room/office area, I’ve come to like the room being more empty.  You wouldn’t believe how much I had crammed in that room!  I didn’t even know until I had to move it all to the basement.  It was a little out of control.  Now, I have a fresh vision for the room (that I haven’t told John about yet 😉 ).  I want it to be clean and orderly so that I can…

    New Floors!

Oh, hello there!  You probably forgot that I even run a blog over here!  Summer kind of took over life for a while there!  We have been traveling so often (and having a blast!), it feels like we are only home to do laundry and mow the grass!  And I suppose, lay some new floors! Ever since we bought the house, we figured on putting in some new flooring.  Whether it was new carpet or making the whole first floor more cohesive with wood, we weren’t sure of.  We just knew we wanted to do something! Well, we sort of got the kick in the pants when our sink backed…

5 Podcasts You Should Probably Check Out

Podcasts make me feel like I’m back in the days before TV.  You know what I’m talking about.  Everybody gathers around the radio for their favorite show to come on and they turn up the dial and listen intently to every word.  That’s totally how I feel since discovering podcasts.  Except, I stream my radio shows from my iPhone and I can listen to them pretty much whenever I want; usually while driving or doing dishes.  But, John and I have been known to keep the TV off in the evening and just listen to a podcast.  We have been trying to watch less TV lately, so these are a…
