Minimalism Monday : Dishes and Appliances
Oh, dishes. Yet another task that is daunting and never-ending. As a stay-at-home mom, I feel like I am constantly in the kitchen, either cooking or cleaning up from a meal. We eat all of our meals at home, except for the occasional lunch or dinner out. This makes for a lot of dishes! Just after breakfast alone, I can have 5 bowls, 5 spoons, 5 cups, 2 mugs and the occasional pot or plates. This is on top of the fact that sometimes all the dishes from dinner didn’t get done the night before! What a start to the morning, huh? Now, I know what you’re thinking. “But how…

Why I choose Young Living – over and over again
Before you pass right by this, I promise it won’t be a post all about how I’m obsessed with these oils and products and the intricacies of how well they all work (all of that is 100% true BTW, it’s just not where I’m going with this). The other night, I was lying in bed, not sleeping because, kids and I had a thought. “Why exactly do I use Young Living? Why, outside of loving how the oils benefit us, do I choose this company over and over again?” My answer was pretty simple. Because, it’s easy.

Our Favorite, Go-To Smoothies
Smoothies are a great way to pack a lot of punch into one meal or snack. If you are worried about you or your children getting enough nutrients while making the transition to plant-based, here is a simple way to load your body up with the good stuff. John and the kids really enjoy fruity smoothies while I like creamier, peanut buttery smoothies. I’ve come up with a basic, very loose formula to make smoothies that everyone can enjoy! Fruity, tropical type smoothies I start with 2 bananas. Then I add some applesauce (unsweetened), greens (if everyone is wanting a green smoothie), then frozen strawberries and either a frozen fruit…

Morning Time for Mama
Hey, mama. How are you? Are you taking care of yourself? As a mom of three, it’s super easy to find myself in self-care ruts. I find myself going too many days between washing my hair; just throwing it up in a top knot (which is totally cool, I just don’t want that to be my only hair style!) I get in the habit of rushing to get myself dressed in whatever I can find in the clean clothes pile after spending a ton of time getting my kids ready for the day. It’s easy to forget that you deserve to get ready to, you know? Like, are people going…

Minimalism Mondays : Clothing
Full on disclaimer: I wrote this a while ago! I am actually about to go through and repeat all of these steps again with my children’s clothes because it really worked and was amazingly glorious. Anyways. ——————————————————————————————————————– Every mother’s main dread. Laundry. It is the ultimate never ending task. Just when you think you’ve caught up, you remember that your whole family is wearing clothes at that exact moment. It can be so frustrating! I was always stuck in this loop of washing and drying all the clothes, folding them and then leaving them in the baskets. We would pull our clean clothes out of the baskets and by the…

Saving Money on Groceries
I’m not a planner. Not at all. Not for anything. But, the time has come for me to start planning meals. Like for real planning meals. Not like “oh, hey, yeah I think we’ll have tacos and tofu this week” and then going and spending $200 at the grocery store and forgetting tofu. You feel me? As groceries are our biggest expense each month (outside of our home), John and I are on a mission to lower our family’s grocery budget so we can more aggressively save money and pay off his student loan debt from his MBA program.

The Secret to Getting Your Kids to Eat Veggies
Lets face it. Getting children to eat a healthy and balanced diet of fruits and veggies can be a pain in the rear. Especially if you haven’t been religious about it since babyhood. There are a lot of weird textures and flavors that come out of fruits and veggies. But they are so very essential to a person’s health, that I think it is an important issue to address. We, like many parents, fell into the trap of making food especially for our toddler when our oldest was at that age. Even if I wasn’t making him a special dinner apart from ours, I was gearing our food to fit…

Minimalism with Kids
What is Minimalism? According to Joshua Becker, in this article, minimalism is the intentional promotion of the things we most value and the removal of everything that distracts us from it. Where to start? So, you’ve heard of minimalism, and what it can do to improve your life. Awesome! Now, you’re ready to get rid of the excess stuff that is demanding all of your attention! Great! I know how overwhelming it can be when you are ready to start on a minimalism journey, but have no idea how or where to go about it. Also, full disclaimer, I’m totally still in the process of decluttering. Minimalism is not a destination.…

Our Journey to Plant Based Living
Here’s the big one. The main question we have gotten on our plant based journey. Why did we do it? Why did we become vegan? Grab a cup of coffee and I’ll be happy to tell you everything. Let’s start at the beginning of our marriage, shall we? I was a terrible cook (some may say I haven’t mastered it even still…) I mean, I was fully cooking out of pre-packaged boxes, just adding meat that I had no idea how to prepare. We were eating a pretty typical American diet of meat, cheese, milk, cereal, eggs, with some canned vegetables and fruit sprinkled in here and there. Fast forward…
