Hack it : Thieves Laundry Soap
When people ask me what products I think they should kick to the curb first, laundry detergent is always at the top of my list. Just think about it. We cover our whole bodies (and our babies clothes) in the clothes we wash. The detergent doesn’t just go away, it stays a part of the clothing (and sheets, towels, etc.) Even the detergents that are supposed to be the gentlest contain some really scary ingredients and are NOT what I want to be putting on my clothes and definitely not on my babies clothes.

Minimalism Monday – Living Room
If your living room is anything like ours, your family spends a lot of time in it. It’s where we watch tv, cuddle, read stories and play. We don’t actually keep anything in this room except for blankets, pillows and a few books. We have one table behind the sofa to hold a diffuser and drinks. We have decorations on the walls and mantle and our tv stand holds just our tv, stereo and dvd player. It has no cupboards, so we really don’t have any storage in this room. We keep our yoga mats in a crate beside the couch because we put yoga on the tv for us…

Buddha Bowls for a Quick Dinner
If you search “Buddha Bowl” on Pinterest, you are sure to come up with thousands and thousands of ideas. These bowls are actually just grain and vegetable bowls with a fancy name. Buddha used to eat out a bowl filled with food from villagers who could afford to spare some. It was usually very simple and healthy food, thus, the “Buddha Bowl”. For these dinners, I’m basically using whatever veggies and grains I have on hand. This is great for the end of the week when you don’t exactly have what you need to complete a recipe but you still need to feed your family!

Transitional Foods for Becoming Plant Based
Now that you know how we feed our kids a plant-based diet without losing our minds, I thought I would share some of the great transition/substitute foods we use/have used to ease the switch to a plant-based diet, for us and the kids! Everybody has a different story of their journey to a plant-based lifestyle (here’s ours). Ours was part slow transition, part cold to-furkey switching. We cut out dairy first, then meat, then eggs, ending with honey over two years after making the initial step in the plant-based directions. Each time we cut something out, it was immediate, though. We didn’t go back and forth. When we stopped eating…
