Running on Empty
I don’t usually talk about my running on here other than to update you all on my latest long run, but John’s post last week inspired me! I first caught the running bug in college. I was never a runner before then. Like John, I played soccer for years and years. Once that ship started to sail, I figured I needed to find something else to keep me in shape. Luckily I was paired with a crazy runner girl (seen here and here) as my freshman roommate. By our junior year, I could no longer fight her off and she convinced me that I was capable of running The Riverbank Run…

I miss staying up all night…
I’ll admit it. I’m a little crazy. But sometimes I really miss getting up in the night to snuggle Alex. As his first birthday approaches, I find myself missing my little snugly peanut. Don’t get me wrong, I’m loving every minute of every day watching him learn and grow and experience new things. There are just sometimes I find myself missing him in the middle of the night. I mean, for 9 months (which was admittedly too long for him to not be sleeping all night; first timer here!) we got to cuddle at night. Now, after a rough week of sleep training, he sleeps like a gem (for the…

John Joins the Fun!
Good morning, guys! Hope you all had a fun and relaxing weekend. We have a very special treat for you today at Reineke Ramblings; John is going to start contributing his two cents to the blog! Woot! Here is his first post =] Enjoy! ——————————————————————————————————————————————————– Hello all, Since Sam has been blogging for just about a year now I figured it was time that I chime in and tell it how it really is! Just kidding, but I did figure it would be fun to try my hand in the blogosphere. Most posts from me will likely be running or triathlon related with a little bit of fatherhood sprinkled in.…

Cooperating is for 10 month olds…
I wanted to get some cute pictures of Alex to put on his birthday party invite. He had other ideas. Here are a few of the ones I got. This was the winner for the birthday invitation! How perfect is the jersey for his first birthday?? Love! This is how the invite turned out! I made it using Pic Monkey and it was way easier than I thought it would be! And now, a few bloopers for your viewing enjoyment =] We have Alex’s buddy’s birthday party today, Dr. Seuss themed! Can’t wait for some Yot in a Pot and Green Eggs and Ham =] Enjoy the rest of your…

Busy Bag Love
Hi there! Today I am going to share a DIY for your kiddos! I am a part of a Mom’s Club and I was super pumped when they said we were gong to have a busy bag exchange! There were 10 moms participating and we all got to pick out which busy bag we wanted to make. We then made 10 of each and exchanged! So now, I have 10 awesome busy bags for Alex to play with when I need to get something done. To make my felt pizza crust, I started out with a half yard of tan colored felt, folded in half. I used my smallest mixing…

Painted Yarn Wrapped Bottles
I’ve been saving beer bottles since summer. Call Hoarders: Buried Alive. Can you blame me? Pinterest is FULL of bottles wrapped in yarn and twine, sprayed and decorated in every which way. So, they have been sitting in the basement for a few months and now I actually wrapped them all up to go into the guest bedroom. I couldn’t find the colors of yarn I wanted, so I decided to wrap the bottles all in white, then attempt to paint the yarn with craft paint. Plus, I already had all of this stuff on hand, which is always a bonus. I used 4 beer bottles and those three balls…

Family Vacation!
Happy Monday everyone! This past weekend we enjoyed a little vacation to Boyne Mountain up in Michigan. John, Alex and I went with Sarah, Jose and Parker! Alex did wonderful for the 8+ hour car ride up to beautiful Northern Michigan. It has been quite a while since we have been up this far north, and I loved it! There was a ton of snow and the conditions were perfect for skiing (and for visiting an indoor water park =]) The boys spent most of the weekend skiing while Sarah and I hung out with the little guys. We did manage to get out skiing Friday night and that was…

Officially a Toddler…
Well, we have hit a major milestone here in the Reineke Household! Alex is officially a walking machine! Although he took his first steps a little while ago, he needed a little more practice before he was confident to walk everywhere. He definitely has it down pat now! I can’t believe how fast he is on his feet; it’s a whole new level of chasing! It has been a blast so far though. He can do so much more! Here are a few videos! I apologize for the poor quality! Apparently we need to stop using our iPhones for video! Just starting, getting lots of practice, learns to stand from…

Master Bedroom Wreath
Hey guys! On Monday, I finally got around to making the wreath I’ve been drooling over for our master bedroom! I’m so happy with how it turned out! Just like I always dreamed. Here was my original inspiration from Etsy. Yeah, $58 was just not happening and imitation is the finest form of flattery, right? So, after drooling for about 6 months, I got down to making my own! I started with this gem that I picked up at the thrift shop a few weeks ago for $1.99. I took out all of the decoration that somebody worked so hard on. Sorry! Then I cut up some strips of burlap…

Alex’s first haircut!
I really, really, really wanted to wait until he was one to give his hair the ole chop chop. Don’t ask me why. I think I just feel like haircuts are for big kids, and he is most definitely NOT a big kid yet (in my eyes). But, he was looking pretty shaggy and had horrible adorable bed head every morning, so John and I decided it was time. So, we set up the iPad with a little Lennon & Maisy playing and we were off! Side note: I was not able to get any action shots since I had to pin Alex down hold Alex while John buzzed his hair.…
