Cutting the Cord
Recently we have been trying to live a simpler life (and save a few bucks in the process). About a month ago, we finally took the plunge and cancelled our cable. It was and it wasn’t an easy decision. We knew we really didn’t need it and we actually didn’t watch that many channels to be paying so much. We also don’t want Alex growing up thinking TV is a main form of entertainment, though the kid does love him some PBS Kids. The one thing that kept us on the fence was sports. I guess I should say that kept John on the fence. He really wasn’t sure about…

I Haven’t Given Up!
Well, okay, do you even know who I am anymore? It’s been about 2 1/2 months that I have been neglecting this blog and I can’t really be sure why. Anything I say will just be an excuse. Promise. I really just didn’t feel like it or had nothing to say or something. Anyways! A lot has happened in the past few months. Alex is now 16 months old and has about 10 words! It amazes me every day when he just randomly repeats a word I say. I’d say his favorite word by far is “bye”. He loves to walk away from you, turn around and stick his hand…

Good-Bye Sleep, It’s Been Real.
I know I haven’t been around in quite some time. I attribute it to the little nugget needing undivided attention and cutting two molars at once. Oh and on the sleep regression that seems to be happening. Early last week, Alex started to become some strange version of himself. Grumpy, tired, and angry. All of the things he is usually not. After we realized it was his upper molars coming in, we swooped in with Tylenol and that seemed to take the edge off of his pain. But the sleep damage was already done. He had been waking us up in the early hours of the morning while his teeth…

Alex’s First Birthday Party!
Hey all! I realize this shindig happened a few weeks ago, I’ve been slacking! After attending another first birthday yesterday, I figured I should probably get on it! Let me start by saying that I never realized how much work could go into a first birthday party and that I never knew Alex had so many close friends and family. I think he is more popular than John and me. Probably because he’s a lot cuter. And naked a lot of the time. I couldn’t have pulled it off without the help of my and John’s families. I’m such a scatter-brain. I’m good with all of the decorations and crafting…

Cincinnati Zoo!
Hey there! I’ve been absent since Alex’s birthday (apart from Tuesday’s post). While we were recovering from the birthday party (hello, 35 of Alex’s closest friends and family) John and Alex came down with a stomach bug. Needless to say, we were a mess around here for a week! Now everybody is feeling healthy again! Woot! Anyways, for Alex’s first birthday treat, we took him to the Cincinnati Zoo! He was pretty pumped. He even suggested we use his zoo animal stroller for the big day =] We weren’t expecting it to be as busy as it was since it was the middle of the week. Buuuut, we seemed to…

#PrayForBoston
As runners, John and I are simply horrified at the events that took place at the Boston Marathon yesterday. It hits so close to home that something like this could happen. Please pray for all of those affected by this terrible event. To show your support, you can wear a running or race shirt today.

A Year Ago Today…Part 2
The nurse came in an I will spare you the details of a water breaking. You can imagine or don’t… From there it was time to switch to the labor a delivery room. Just the mention of being moved to L & D made me pretty freaked out. Everything seemed to be happening at lightning speed. At some point in the early morning hours, I succumbed to the pain and took a little medication. I was finally able to get some rest in between contractions. It was probably the worst sleep of my life (5 minutes at a time) but at least it was sleep! John was sprawled on the…

A Year Ago Today…Part 1
I was scrubbing my bath tub, just like any other woman at 9 months pregnant would be doing. Making sure everything was perfect for when our little bean arrived. At 11:07 a.m. I heard the tail end of my ring tone, so I waited for a voicemail to be left for me. I listened to my OB say “I need to talk to you about the ultrasound that you had today, in fact, I think it is time to have us a baby.” (this is still saved on my phone) Instant panic! But my due date isn’t until tomorrow and I was just waiting to go into labor naturally! So,…

Keepin’ It Clean (Or Trying To)
I’m starting to get the spring cleaning bug. The sun is shining and Pinterest is covered with brightly colored cleaning supplies, tips and checklists. I’m itching to get my windows open to air out my house (fingers crossed it’s done snowing in Ohio) and get rid of all the germies still lingering. This was my favorite pin…it sucked me right in with those neon supplies! Turns out it was a great list of everything I need to clean this spring =] Source: I Dream of Clean Since Alex has come along, I have become more conscious about what is brought into our home. You should know that we aren’t really…

Finding Balance & Mother Nature is a Fickle Beast
Good morning! I’m sorry I’ve been such a blogging slacker lately! My mind has felt like mush in the writing department. Marathon training is picking up, I’m trying to get my Etsy shop going again with things for spring/summer, Alex needs more and more entertainment as he gets older and I’ve just been hanging out with John =] Instagram sreineke7 I don’t know how working moms do it. Honestly. I’m exhausted at the end of the day! I’m not saying I don’t work all day, because I do. Chasing a toddler; making sure he is clean and fed and happy is quite an undertaking. But, having to do all of…
