30 Day Challenge- Abs & Squats
You know that point that you reach after having a baby? That one where the weight seemed to be falling off and then all of a sudden it’s not anymore? But, you’re all like “hey, I still have 15 pounds to lose” and your body is all like “yeah, I’m totally done with that weight loss stuff”. Plus, you’re nursing and there is that fine line between losing weight and losing your milk supply because you aren’t eating enough/working out too much. It’s totally awkward. Time to try something new. Well, time to actually try. So, we’re (Oh yeah, I dragged John into this) jumping on the bandwagon of this…

Family Photo Wall`
These boys. I mean, seriously. It was time to get some of that sugar up on our walls. Admittedly, I am terrible at updating the pictures in our house. The frames are still littered with photos of when I was pregnant…with Alex. Also, there are lots of newborn pictures of Alex. Time for Christian to be represented and for Alex to grow up by 2 years. I’ve always loved the look of big white frames with big white mats, but the prices have always been a little daunting, so I’ve held out. It had absolutely nothing to do with my inability to get pictures printed. I repeat, nothing. So, one day,…

Kitchen Makeover for Under $300 (Seriously)
Close your eyes. Picture me, running up the steps of the Philly Museum of Art, while “Eye of the Tiger” blares in the background. Did you do it? Because I am seriously feeling like we have conquered this kitchen. Let me just fill you on on what we started with. (This is the photo from the listing when we were buying the house) We had a black stove in a sea of white appliances and pretty much no color otherwise. The cabinet boxes were really sturdy but the doors felt flimsy. We weren’t loving it and it just wasn’t us. From day one, we knew we needed to do something…

Bedside Upgrade
As I neared the tail end of my pregnancy with Christian, painting felt like the best option for DIYing. It was therapeutic AND gave me instant results. Which was great because I was super impatient and exhausted/uncomfortable. Although, I wouldn’t say that this particular project was therapeutic. It was actually a huge pain in the behind. I had this dresser that was mine as a child/teenager. My parents let me take it (I can’t imagine why) when we moved into this house. My parents were always very supportive of letting me express my creativity. This time though, I wish they would have put their foot (feet?) down. I decoupaged…

My Mommy Must-Haves
1)Thirty One ZOUT (Zip-top Organizing Utility Tote): Honestly, I thought my days of a big diaper bag were past. I was having so much luck using just this bag (Vary You Backpack Purse from Thirty-One) before Christian came along. I had another bag in my trunk with extra essentials (clothes, diapers, wipes, burp cloths, and blankies) and it was working beautifully. Until I remembered how many things a newborn needs and needs right now! Not whenever you can make it back to your car. After about a week or two, I gave in and went back to a bigger bag.…

A Few Things About Christian
I introduced you all to my littlest love a few weeks ago, but thought I might enlighten you on a few things that I have learned about him! He has a love/hate relationship with his binky. Sometimes, he takes that thing in a flash and other times he acts like it is the most disgusting thing in the world. I always imagine him saying things to me like “how could you even think I would want this?” and “don’t you know anything about me at all?” when I try to give him his paci. But usually, mom (& dad) know best, and he ends up accepting our gracious gift of…

This is my Life
Hello! I have come out of hiding just for you guys =] Just kidding. I’m not actually hibernating, contrary to how it might seem since I haven’t really blogged in weeks! But seriously, my life is kind of a mess. And by life, I mean house. I have not been DIYing. I have not been crafting. I have been surviving. I’m super impressed by the other bloggers who had babies these last few months are are already back to it! I need all of your secrets. [source][/source] The first month or two post-partum seem to be tough for me. It takes me a while to figure out a routine and…

Overdue.
Good morning and I just realized this is my 100th post! Whoa!!! Well, I have never been 40 weeks and 1 day pregnant before. It’s sort of a weird feeling because you build up your due date so much throughout pregnancy and then it comes and goes with not a whole lot of excitement. At my appointment yesterday, my doctor told me to keep a positive attitude and that all babies come out eventually. Thanks, doc! I’m not sure if he’s telling me to stay positive because I’m nowhere near going into labor or if I am already moving in the right direction. It could go either way. Since I…

Slip Resistant Dresser (???)
Um, what now? Before you start thinking, “Okay, Sam. You need to have that baby because you have OFFICIALLY lost.your.mind”, hear me out! My parents bought us this dresser for Alex’s room from our little antique shop uptown (it was actually a gift for Christian, but brothers share right??). I wish I could have captured the amount of damage the previous owner(s?) caused this poor thing. It was definitely in a child’s room and they took out their frustration on this dresser. Luckily, I love a good distressed dresser, and don’t shy away from a little challenge to make things look beautiful. I took it all apart (except for one…
