Accidental Chocolate Chip Granola
You know those times when you start making a recipe and then realize you don’t actually have the right ingredients, but you’ve already started melting the butter in the pan? Yeah. That was me on Saturday. I had already promised Alex he could help me make granola bars, and if you have a 2 1/2 year old, you know you don’t go back on your word because they get so excited to “help mommy make somfing”. So, we tried it anyways, and wouldn’t you know? The chewy bars wouldn’t stick together. I was so ready to just call it and say we could eat our granola bars with a spoon…

Simple Felt Wreath
I’ve got the Christmas itch! My feeds have been full of Christmas crafts, trees, wreaths, and gift ideas. I was trying to hold out, and I made it about 4 days longer than I usually do before I started decorating for my favorite holiday. Usually John wakes up on November 1 to a Christmas tree in the living room. Baby steps, right? When I saw this adorable felt wreath that Gina posted at The Shabby Creek Cottage, I couldn’t wait any longer. It was exactly what I had in mind for a first, easy project! Plus, it’s always a bonus when you know you already have all the supplies because…

DIY Watercolor State Art
You know those times where you are looking for the perfect gift for your parents because they watched your really rambunctious 2 year old and infant son for a whole weekend while you took a vacation? That was me when John and I went to Mackinac. We so wanted to pick out the perfect thing to bring back for my parents for taking the boys for the weekend, but nothing was really sticking out to us. I saw a few little prints of Michigan in the different stores, but they were priced pretty high (not that you aren’t worth it mom and dad!) but if you know me at all,…

Crochet Football Hat Pattern – Child Size
Hey y’all! I’ve had a few requests for a larger size of my football hat, so I revisited the pattern to make that happen. Turns out, the original pattern was basically child size (I could fit it on my head, no problem) so I tweaked it a touch and updated the toddler pattern to be more toddler-ish. Got that? Lets just say, Alex has been wearing a ginormous hat. Also, there isn’t much difference in the two sizes, but I’ll give you the deets and you can make whichever you want! I plan on spelling out smaller sizes, too, hopefully soon! You can find the toddler size here. Without further…

Recharge
Happy Tuesday, y’all! What did you guys do this weekend? I hope something epic =] If I tell you John and I spent the weekend kid-free for the first time in 2 1/2 years, would you believe me??? Well, we seriously did. Every year, on the last weekend of October, we pack our bags and make the 8 hour trek up to Mackinac Island in Michigan. We’ve been doing this for the past 5 years or so and we look forward to it all year. We have taken Alex with us the past two years, but this year, we made it a plan to leave both kiddos with my parents.…

DIY Button Art & My Laundry Room
I’ve been wanting to update the laundry room for quite some time now. I spend a lot of time in there doing something I don’t really love (or like all that much) so I want it to at least be pretty and inviting while I’m washing all the clothes. Last week, I read (in 2 days, so good!) The Nesting Place. It really struck a cord with me because I’m one of those people who have held off making my spaces more “me” because of money, not knowing how long we’ll be in this house, not having a clue about design (hello, child development degree over here!) etc. I know I’m…

A Very Autumn-y Door and Mantle
This is weird for me. I usually don’t decorate for fall because the season is so short. But, it’s only short because I make it short. The day after Halloween is when I typically decorate for Christmas. Don’t judge. This year, I was feeling really inspired by all the lovely things I was seeing on Pinterest and on my Facebook feed from friends and bloggers alike. I knew I couldn’t skip out on celebrating this wonderful season anymore. I’m currently really loving a good bunting (w/ polka dots, of course) & I knew this was totally something I could tackle myself with some things I had around already. So I…

Whooo’s There?
Happy fall, y’all! I feel like this season always sneaks up on me. One day it’s 85 and sunny and the next, all the leaves have changed and I’m digging around for sweaters and jeans. Which is a task that has been taken to a whole new level with two little ones. I never know what size they’ll be wearing from one season to the next! Anyways, I wanted to share another easy DIY sign to get you in the Halloween/fall spirit. I’m not big on doing all of the scary Halloween decorating, but I do enjoy the cutesy things here and there. I made this little sign last year…

Falling for Fall!
I’m totally feeling the fall spirit this year! Can you believe I almost didn’t snap this photo?? Maybe if I show you what it looked like before you can. We have these trees all over town that have been trimmed due to a being too close to power lines, making them look totally weird. But, I don’t hold it against them, they are still pretty trees, albeit a little lopsided. Anyways! I wanted to share with you the cute little sign I made from scrap wood for my fall mantle! I was inspired by this signs I saw over at Ella Claire. How cute are those?? I totally plan on…

Wanna Talk About It?
When I started this blog a few years ago, it was just a way for me to keep my very spread out family up-to-date on what we were up to. It has slowly evolved into more of a DIY/home/craft blog and while I’m by no means a big blog, I want to make sure I am keeping myself open to new opportunities (whatever they may be). After doing a lot of research and brainstorming, I think it’s time to retire the name Reineke Ramblings. Choosing a new name will allow me to better unify everything if say, I want to incorporate an Etsy shop in the future (totally going to…
