Getting Christmasy
Happy Friday! Can you believe Christmas is NEXT WEEK??? How in the world did that happen? I had so many things pinned that I wanted to get done. Instead, my tree is half naked and my gifts aren’t even wrapped. But, hey, (most of) my Christmas cards are in the mail! You know what I mean? I know you do. #reallife This week, I tried to squeeze in some of those Pinterest activities. I’ve been pretty excited to do some Christmas activities with Alex because he is getting to the age where he understands a little more and can follow directions (most of the time). On Tuesday, we made a…

Frugal Friday: Laundry Edition
Happy Friday friends!! I don’t want to say anything, but other than a couple of runny noses, we are all healthy around here and getting back to normal. But, having been sick for a bit means I have piles of laundry to catch up on. I’m sure you know what I mean when I say that laundry is something that just never ends. And it is definitely my least favorite chore. I’m still trying to perfect my laundry routine (ha!) but something I think I’ve finally got right is my homemade laundry detergent. I mentioned it originally when I talked about ways we save money a while back. Since then,…

Gift Guide for Young Kiddos
I had the hardest time coming up with gift ideas for the boys for Christmas this year. People kept asking me what they might like, and I was coming up empty every time! I’m firmly on the “we don’t need anymore toys” train, but I knew that wouldn’t hold much water with the grandparents 😉 So, I racked my brain and searched Pinterest and came up with some ideas! Some toys, and some more practical gifts. Clothing (For Alex because Christian is totally buried deep in his brother’s hand-me-downs) was a necessity because Alex’s pants and sleeves are getting too short! He is growing like a weed! I can’t believe…

Parenting 101
You guys. I have been in a knock down- drag out fight with germs so far this “sick” season. Seriously, remember how I told you we were all sick before Thanksgiving? And then Christian after Thanksgiving? Well, Alex and Christian both have cough/colds going on and I had ANOTHER stomach bug yesterday. Seriously! Time to bleach all the things. I hope you are all staying healthy! Anyways. Have you heard of this? The 8, 9, 10 month sleep regression? Does that mean it happens once at 8 months, then again at 9 months and a third time at 10 months? I’m really hoping this is an “or” situation because Christian…

Crochet Reindeer Hat Free Pattern: 6-12 months
** This pattern has been updated to include all sizes from infant-adult large. It is available to purchase here in my Etsy shop! ** If you are looking for the toddler size, you can find it here! Hello there! Have you guys started your Christmas decorating now that it is socially acceptable?? I’ve had my tree up for a month already! And not because I’m a blogger and I wanted to show it off, because, seriously, the bottom half of my tree is naked this year because of a couple of little stinkers. Since we watched The Polar Express twice this morning, and I suspect it will be happening…

Christian’s Baptism
Whew! I feel like I haven’t opened my computer in a week! We’ve been so busy with family and then John, Alex and I picked up a little stomach bug last week before we headed up to the lake to celebrate Thanksgiving/Christmas with the Reinekes and then to party with Parker for his 2nd birthday. Just when we thought we were in the clear, Christian started sounding Croup-y on the way home from Michigan! Hopefully this isn’t shaping up to be a winter full of sick kids and parents! The weekend before last, we hosted John’s sister, Shalyn along with her husband Uri and their son, Oliver (who is just…

Frugal Friday: Cloth Diaper Edition
It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday….Okay. No. Now I see why Alex told me “Mommy, don’t sing” yesterday. #lame I hope you all had a wonderful week! I’ve been busy, busy, busy getting ready for this weekend that is going to be crazy with a capital “C”. Christian is getting baptized on Sunday, so we will have 10 adults (two of which are pregnant — NOT ME!), 3 toddlers, 1 baby, and 4 dogs in our house. Whew! It’s going to be a blast! Alex and Christian are going to have both of their cousins here to play with. Must remember to take a million pictures! Oh! And…

Kitchen Table and Chairs Makeover!
If you saw my instagram posts about my Christmas felt wreath or chocolate chip granola, you may have noticed that my kitchen table is white now!!! But it wasn’t always that way… Welcome to Gunksville, USA. Population: my kitchen table. You know how sometimes you think you clean really well, until you realize maybe you don’t? This table is pretty well loved. It used to be John’s kitchen table growing up, I’m not sure how long they had it there, but my guess is a while! So, understandably, it had some buildup around the edges where grubby kids hands ate all of their meals. Alex has definitely added to that…
