Whew! I feel like I haven’t opened my computer in a week! We’ve been so busy with family and then John, Alex and I picked up a little stomach bug last week before we headed up to the lake to celebrate Thanksgiving/Christmas with the Reinekes and then to party with Parker for his 2nd birthday. Just when we thought we were in the clear, Christian started sounding Croup-y on the way home from Michigan! Hopefully this isn’t shaping up to be a winter full of sick kids and parents!
The weekend before last, we hosted John’s sister, Shalyn along with her husband Uri and their son, Oliver (who is just a few months younger than Alex). They made the long trek up from Florida for Christian’s baptism (they are his God-parents) and we are so grateful they were able to take the time out to come up for a visit! Alex had a blast playing with his cousin, despite a few spats about who had what truck/tractor/train =] They were pretty much a blur all weekend!
On Saturday, the crazy started! John’s parents, my parents, Sarah, Jose, and Parker all joined the fun on Saturday afternoon. I think it was the first time Alex had both of his cousins to cause trouble with =]
Sunday was Christian’s big day! Our house was hustlin’ and bustlin’ before 9 o’clock mass and we all made it there on time! Miracle! All the kids were awesome during the service and Christian even squeezed in a little nap before and at the beginning of his big moment. He woke up just in time to get washed in the water and he actually seemed to like it!
The whole crew!
With his Godparents. Alex had had enough smiling for the camera!
And this one was supposed to be our Christmas card and then our kids look all bah-humbug-y.
Afterwards, we came back to our house for a little brunch and family time! We are so thankful to everybody for making the trip to see us and share in Christian’s special day =] It’s always so much fun to get together with our families!
The man of the day had just way too much fun!
Cue a cousins picture!
And then, Alex touched Christian.
The boys were all over the train table! Not to toot my own horn or anything but. Best. DIY. Ever.
I absolutely love how special events bring everybody together, especially because we are all so spread out. It is so fun to watch my boys get to play with their cousins, especially Alex, because he knows that cousin time is special.
I’ll be sure to share some more of our family time later this week and how we squeezed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and a birthday into one weekend!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
