I admit it. I have been procrastinating tackling this project. But, it is on my resolution list to get more organized, so here goes nothing!
Now, this is not a Pinterest Perfect linen closet. I used what I had on hand and I’m not going to fold my sheets into perfect little rectangles so they all stack nicely on top of each other. Sorry, Martha. I don’t want to feel pressure when I am organizing and I want to make sure I will actually stick with it. Looking up “How to Fold Sheets” and “How to Perfectly Fold Towels” just wasn’t going to cut it for me. I know for sure that I already dislike folding laundry, so I probably won’t take the extra time each time I wash sheets to fold them perfectly. This is real life, people. And I’m pretty laundry lazy. But even lazy people need organized closets! Who’s with me??
So, here it was before. A complete disaster.
My poor husband stood outside this closet for about 4 minutes Wednesday night and finally settled on using one of the dog’s towels. It was clean at least! Definitely time to organize.
First, I emptied the closet and I know it doesn’t look like it, but those piles are organized into categories. Believe me.
And, because I’m a sucker for an empty closet (who isn’t?). Such a beautiful blank slate.
Then I starting filling it back up. I put the things we use most often at about eye level and dispersed the rest above and below. So much better! Now, if John can’t find a towel, he can’t be helped. =]
Who knew we had so many extra sheets? Not me! And our extra blanket piles are ridiculous. But I love each and every one of them, so they aren’t going anywhere. I’ll have to purge my house elsewhere.
A before and after for you. I really can’t believe how it used to look. I’m a little embarrassed.
Anybody else catch the organizing bug this New Year?
