Sunday, we had planned to take Alex to the pumpkin patch to pick out his pumpkin. My parents were in town so we planned to make a fun afternoon of it. This picture is the result of a no-nap day and being “all done”.
I picked out a farm that had gotten good reviews from quite a few other moms that I know. So we trekked out there, parked and walked up to the entrance.
Only to find that they were charging $9 per person to get in! Maybe I was spoiled growing up where I did, but we definitely did not pay to get into a farm. I wouldn’t have been opposed to it, but Alex really wasn’t going to be able to participate in many of the activities that were to be had at this farm. So, essentially, we would have been paying to get into a farm to buy one pumpkin. No thanks!
So, we turned our pumpkin hunting selves around and got back into the car. On our way home we actually passed what was my first thought for pumpkin patching and I’m so glad we stopped! First of all, we didn’t have to pay to get in, hello! There were lots of little booths offering face painting and food and Scentsy, of course. There were two adorable little farm stores with lots of little knick knacks and furniture. I wish I would’ve taken some more pictures of what they had to offer. I’m a sucker for a good farm store. They even had a giant hay bale spider that Alex was pretty terrified of.
We then made our way to see what they had in the way of pumpkins. Alex really enjoyed pushing and pulling the cart.
He did manage to take a break to pick out his big ole pumpkin.
While daddy and papa were in line, he took a break to smell (eat?) all of the mums that were around. His new favorite thing is to sniff everything. I dunno.
So, after a little snafu, we had a great time at the Barn ‘n’ Bunk we decided to go to! I tried my hardest to get Alex’s 18 month photo shoot done while we were there, but alas, he had not napped yet and was not in the mood for cooperating. Another day, I suppose!
