So, I teased you all on Wednesday with my last mystery item from the thrift shop. Well here it is! I don’t expect you to be as excited as I am about it, but humor me, will you??
A basket! It’s a decent size basket too. And for only $6! It’s exactly what I was looking for to corral all of John’s exercise/stretching equipment that he keeps in our room. Mostly all of it sits in the corner behind our armoire and Alex likes to grab it, run and then throw it down the stairs. It might drive me a little nuts.
So, I figured if it was all contained, he might not think it’s as cool anymore. Wishful thinking probably. At least it will look pretty sitting in the corner now.
I wasn’t really a fan of the basket color. It was sort of looking like bleached out palm leaves wrapped around rope. I just wasn’t digging it. I am really trying to brighten our room up (which is extremely difficult when we have dark brown furniture), so i decided to go with white.
I gave it one coat of primer to make sure the paint had something to grab onto. I primed the inside and out.
Next, I gave it two coats of my very favorite, Rustoleum Heirloom White. The paint did something funky on the inside. Can you see it? It’s almost looking like the paint didn’t mix up properly even though I shook it for 2 minutes. Weirdness.
It really only did that on the inside though and it covered up pretty easily. Phew!
Loving it! I wish it was holding something prettier than exercise equipment. Maybe, in a future life, it will hold a beautiful chevron throw that I have hand crocheted. But, in the meantime, it’s much better than having workout things scattered throughout the room and down the stairs.
And just because I love a good before and after…
