Hey there!
I’ve been absent since Alex’s birthday (apart from Tuesday’s post). While we were recovering from the birthday party (hello, 35 of Alex’s closest friends and family) John and Alex came down with a stomach bug. Needless to say, we were a mess around here for a week! Now everybody is feeling healthy again! Woot!
Anyways, for Alex’s first birthday treat, we took him to the Cincinnati Zoo! He was pretty pumped. He even suggested we use his zoo animal stroller for the big day =]
We weren’t expecting it to be as busy as it was since it was the middle of the week. Buuuut, we seemed to have forgotten that it was spring break for every school in the area! It was pretty crowded everywhere but we still had lots of fun. It was a gorgeous day!
The gorillas were definitely Alex’s favorite exhibit at the zoo. They had such attitude! I even think they know exactly what they are doing with the spectators. At one point one started charging, stopped and turned her back to us! It was pretty funny.
We were pretty close to the elephants, which was super cool! They weren’t moving fast enough for Alex to be interested in them.
A lot of the animals were having rest time while we were there.
So we decided that was a good idea. Snack break!
Overall, the Cincinnati Zoo was a fun time! They had so many exhibits to see and they even have a new Africa Exhibit coming this summer! It is a great place to spend some quality time with your family. If you go now, you can even see the Zoo Blooms!
To cap the day off, we made a trip to Orange Leaf for some fro-yo! We’re regulars.
Have a great day!
