Good Morning!
Today starts the Lenten season and I can’t believe it is already that time of year!
Every year, I struggle to think of something to give up for Lent. I usually end up choosing candy, or chips or something equally unhealthy for me. I typically don’t feel like I’ve gained anything after Lent and that got me thinking a little bit harder about it this year.
After seeing this story on Good Morning America in January about a woman who went a year without makeup, the wheels in my head started turning. I got to thinking that I could probably learn something from giving up makeup for a little while. Now, I don’t wear a whole lot of makeup, mostly just a little foundation and mascara, but I still rely on it too much. I feel as though maybe I need to start appreciating what God has given me and not try to cover up my imperfections. Instead of covering up the bags under my eyes, I will actually get more sleep. Instead of covering up my freckle mustache (it’s a real thing, courtesy of pregnancy) I will embrace it or actually take the steps to lighten it like I have been meaning to. Maybe it will lead me to better take care of this one body I have been given. It will be interesting, to say the least!
I’ve also decided to partake in the 40 Bags in 40 Days Challenge over at White House, Black Shutters! I have done a little decluttering since moving into our house almost a year ago, but I still think we have way too much stuff for 3 people!
Do you take part in Lent? What will you be giving up or changing?
Do you think you could go without makeup on a regular basis? Have you?
Do you have some things that you can part with? Join the challenge!
