Happy Tuesday, guys!
This past weekend we had some visitors =] Sarah, Jose, and Parker were here for a few days; it was so great to see them! Parker had so much to say and so many smiles for us, we were loving it!
Sarah and I got some serious doing nothing time in while planning a failed trip to the thrift store. Of course, Alex decided he wanted to nap for 3 hours on a day where we had somewhere to go. Big shock! Glad he was feeling so rested though =]
While Sarah, Parker and I were enjoying some (much deserved) couch time, the boys were busy in the basement workshop =] It can now officially be called a workshop because they built us a workbench! Woot! Thanks John and Jose for the awesome and most sturdy workbench! Now I can get started on some shelves for Alex’s room! Note: It’s a good thing we have those barbell weights for holding countertops down so they will adhere to the glue all the weight lifting we do around here.
Marathon Training Update: I had 9 miles on the calendar for Saturday. I ran it with my buddy, Betsy and we clocked a nice and easy 1 hour 45 minute time. Slow and steady wins the race right?? John and Jose had 8 miles scheduled for Sunday and they were considerably faster. I won’t even post it to save my embarrassment. Okay, I’ll post it because I’m pretty proud! They averaged around 8.5 min/mile. What?! Maybe one day I’ll get there when I miraculously decide to do my speed work??? =]
Alex Update: On Sunday, John, Alex and I took a family trip to the pool! Alex had his very first swim lesson with all his buddies from story time. John was in the pool with him for the first one because it’s January and I don’t want to be in a bathing suit just yet so they could have some daddy/son time. Maybe I’ll be a trooper next week, when it’s February. It’s just so fun watching John and Alex play, my boys are just adorable! John and Alex had a blast! I, of course, was the mamarazzi on the deck. I wasn’t the only one! There were a few dadarazzis (it’s a thing, really) around as well! Swimming is a big deal!
He wasn’t too sure about sliding into the deep end…
He was all about walking around the wading pool with daddy, though!
He really enjoyed jumping in!
Overall, I think he will be excited to go back every Sunday for the next 7 weeks =] He was a natural in the water and the back stroke was his favorite by far. Even though he looks a little mad in this picture, I promise he was enjoying himself! At least John was having fun!
Today, it is going to be 65. I mean, really? I’m not mad or anything, but please stop teasing me with spring in January! We are taking full advantage though and going on a family run this evening! Here’s to keeping up with John even when he’s pushing a stroller!
Enjoy the rest of your day!
